Joseph Allpress served at the Relief of Arrah, August 1857; General Havelock’s relieving column, September 1857; present at the Alumbagh Garrison, September to November 1857; engaged in the Relief of Lucknow, November 1857. He is shown as ‘Joseph’ Allpress in all muster rolls and is listed on the medal roll as ‘Dead’. When he died is not clear, he was still serving in March 1858, but had probably died by the time the medals were being issued.
