Harry Evans was born and lived in Dartmouth and enlisted at Exeter. Serving in the 8th (Service) Battalion Devonshire Regiment, he was killed in action on the first day of the battle of Loos, 25 September 1915, aged 18 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial. Harry Evans was the son of Mrs E. A. Evans, of Warfleet Cottage, Dartmouth, Devon. With copied casualty details.

The 8th Battalion Devonshire Regiment lost 19 officers and 600 other ranks out of 750.
