James Davidson/Davison was born in the Parish of Stroud, Gloucestershire, and enlisted for the 29th Foot on 16 May 1800, aged 21 years, a Labourer by trade. He was discharged at Deal Barracks on 15 August 1816, in consequence of ‘gun shot wound of right leg at Talavera, 28 July 1809, and impaired vision.
