Robert William McGivern was born in Killeavy, Co. Armagh, lived at Poyntzpass, and enlisted at Newry, Co. Down. Serving with the 9th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, he died of wounds on 12 October 1916, aged 20 years. He was buried in the Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France. Private McGivern was the son of William and Isabella McGivern of Lisnogree, Poyntzpass, Co. Armagh. With copied m.i.c., roll extract and other research including his photograph that appeared in a newspaper.
