Khangawa Koporo, a native of the Atonga Tribe, enlisted in the King’s African Rifles at Zomba in February 1929 and served in both the 1st and 2nd Battalions during his ensuing career, including several months in Abyssinia and Somalia during the 1939-45 War. He was finally discharged as a Company Sergeant-Major in October 1945, the award of his L.S. & G.C. Medal having been approved by the Nyasaland Military Records Office in the same year; sold with copied service record, which confirms his application for replacement 1939-45 campaign awards in the early 1960s.
