Frank Shipman enlisted into the 7th (Robin Hood) Battalion Notts. & Derbys. on 16 September 1914. With them he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 28 February 1915. Shipman received gunshot wounds to his right leg and foot on 3 July 1916. He died of his wounds on 11 July 1917, aged 20 years. He was buried in the Le Treport Military Cemetery. Frank Shipman was the son of Alfred Shipman, of 53 Woodward Street, Nottingham. With copied service papers, m.i.c. and casualty details.
