Glamorganshire, University of Wales, Welsh National School of Medicine, Cardiff, the John Maclean Medal, in silver, unsigned, arms, rev. legend in and around wreath, named (Awarded for Proficiency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to…Thomas Geraint Illtyd James, M.B., B.C.H., 1924-1925), 63mm, edge stamped silver. Scratch marks on rim from previous efforts to remove medal from tight-fitting aperture in case, otherwise virtually as struck, obverse toned, very rare and believed the first awarded; in red case of issue by Spink (£120-150)
