Reginald Frederick Burrett was born in Norwich on 27 November 1908 and attested for the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry on 27 May 1930. He was promoted Corporal on 2 February 1940; Sergeant on 19 September 1940; and Colour Sergeant on 7 April 1941. He transferred to the Reserve on 27 March 1951, and was discharged in the rank of Warrant Officer Class II on 3 May 1954, after 24 years and 38 days’ service. He died in Westminster on 5 January 1974, after being hit by a cab whilst crossing the road.
