The so-called Anguilla Liberty Dollars were a self-initiated production by Scott Newhall, then editor of the San Francisco Chronicle. The island had split from the Associated State of St Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla and the new Anguilla provisional government declined to have these ‘Liberty Dollars’ recognised legally.
