Greek Coinages, KINGDOM OF MACEDONIA, Alexander III: Tetradrachm, struck at Tarsos, Cilicia, c. 323-17

Obverse: head of youthful Herakles right, wearing lion’s scalp headdress, paws tied below chin

Reverse: βασιλεωσ αλεχανδρου: Zeus seated left on ornate chair, holding eagle and flower-tipped sceptre; wreath-bearing Victory and caduceus in field; monogram [επ] below throne, θ in exergue

Metal: silver; Attic weight standard; 17.14g/1h
