Greek Coinages, KINGDOM OF MACEDONIA, Alexander IV: Tetradrachm, struck at Amphipolis, c. 320, under the auspices of Antipater as regent

Obverse: head of youthful Herakles right, wearing lion’s scalp headdress, paws tied below chin

Reverse: βασιλεωσ αλεχανδρου: Zeus seated left on ornate stool, holding eagle and plain sceptre; monogram [παθ] in field

Metal: silver; Attic weight standard, 17.20g/3h

Condition: Extremely fine and well centred; beautiful grey tone with diffused iridescence £400-£500
