W.A. Fisher served multiple terms as mayor of Evesham. William Henry Knight (1850-1940) b Badsey, had established his business in Bengeworth by 1870, expanding into Evesham; by 1881 he had moved to Gloucester and in 1887 to London; he was appointed managing director of the British Empire Exhibition in March 1914 but the event, scheduled to be staged at Crystal Palace in 1915, was cancelled because of the War.
