Provenance:
M.J. Freeman Collection, Christie’s Auction, 23 October 1984, lot 297
bt P.C.W. Deane.
This piece may very likely be the same specimen recorded by C.W. Peck as being in the A.H.F. Baldwin collection; if so, it certainly did not pass, as did most of Baldwin’s collection of coppers, to Mrs Norweb. The only other example known to the cataloguer was in the group of ‘Weyl’ patterns sold at Glendining’s on 15 December 1993, lot 280, which in itself may well be Murdoch lot 691
