James John Stokes, of the 49th (Alberta) Battalion, Canadian Infantry, was killed in action near Wulverghem, Belgium, on 14 January 1916, aged 25 years - hit by a bullet in the head (Note: The C.E.F. Roll of Honour lists him as died of wounds). Buried in the St. Quentin Cabaret Military Cemetery, Wulverghem, he was the son of James and Sarah Jane Stokes, of Hammersmith, London; sold with copied research.
