‘£25 to the General Subscription Fund raised for the relief of Widows and Children of the men who lost their lives in endeavouring to rescue the Crew of the Barque Mary Stoddart, wrecked near Dundalk, during a heavy Gale on the 7th April, and for rewarding the men who exerted themselves to save the lives of those on board. £5 to five Fishermen, who, with two Coast Guard men, manned the boat which succeeded in saving the survivors of the Crew of the Vessel. The Honorary Bronze Medal to Robert Shankey, and Patrick Barry, Boatmen of the Coast Guard, in testimony of their gallant conduct in accompanying the five Fishermen. The Honorary Bronze Medal to Mr George Elphinstone, of Blackrock, to mark the sense entertained of his meritorious conduct at the wreck of the Mary Stoddart, at the stranding of the Grace, of Harrington, in February last, and on other occasions.’ (ref.
