John James Westbrook was born in Hambleton, Hampshire on 30 August 1844. Entering the Royal Navy as an Acting Engine Room Artificer on 1 January 1873, he was confirmed in that rank in April 1874. Served on Seahorse, January 1881-January 1884, seeing service in the Egypt War 1882 and awarded the Royal Navy L.S. & G.C. Pensioned ashore on 30 April 1891; he died in Portsmouth, 1931. With copied service papers.
