Alfred Henry Eddy, born in St. Just, Cornwall on 1 December 1860. Entered the Royal Navy as an Acting Engine Room Artificer on 7 June 1882. Served on Orion, July 1882-May 1883; Alexandra, May 1883-May 1884; Invincible, May-September 1884 and Monarch, October 1884-August 1885, seeing service in Egypt. Attained the rank of C.E.R.A. in November 1894. As such he earned the Queen’s South Africa Medal without clasp for service on Gibraltar, March 1901-May 1902, during the Boer War. Pensioned from the service in July 1902. With copied service paper.
