William A. B. Elson was born in Plymouth on 15 July 1845. He entered the Royal Navy in June 1868 and attained the rank of Chief Engine Room Artificer in May 1877. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1878 when on the troopship Simoom. Shore pensioned in 1893. With copied service papers.
