Davd Twine was born in Littlehampton, Sussex on 21 July 1852. Entering the Royal Navy in September 1875, he attained the rank of Chief Engine Room Artificer in February 1887. He served on the ironclad cruiser Northampton, November 1882-April 1886, the ship being the flagship of the North America and West Indies Station during that period. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1885. Pensioned in September 1895. The 1911 Census shows Twine as Senior Engineer on the Admiralty Dredger in Dover Harbour. He died in 1924 in Portsmouth. With copied service paper.
