Thomas Henry Copping Brown was born in Peterborough, Northamptonshire on 18 May 1858. Entering the Royal Navy in November 1880, he attained the rank of Chief Engine Room Artificer in 1893. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1891 aboard the paddle vessel Sphinx; pensioned in January 1901. With copied service paper.
