Robert Melles Edmonds was born in Carrickfergus, Ireland on 7 November 1854. Entering the Royal Navy in December 1876, he attained the rank of Chief Engine Room Artificer in December 1889. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1892 on the sloop Pelican. Pensioned in December 1896. With copied service paper.
