James Gwyther waas born in Pembrock Dock on 6 January 1854. Entering the Royal Navy in April 1878, he attained the rank of Chief Engine Room Artificer in May 1890. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1893; pensioned in 1898. With copied service paper.
