Basil C. Lightfoot enlisted into the Bedfordshire Yeomanry on 3 February 1915. Sailing on the Duchess of Hamilton he disembarked at Le Havre on 9 June 1915. Discharged 29 March 1919 due to ‘derangement at knee’.
