Harry Herbert Lee of 106 Creek Road, Deptford, attested for service with the 20th Battalion London Regiment on 5 September 1914. With them he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 9 March 1915. He was wounded in action on 29 May 1915 and discharged as unfit for further service on 9 June 1916. Subsequently he joined the Merchant Navy as a Fireman. He was killed when his ship, the S.S. Stryn (2,143 tons) was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine 5 miles E. from Barry Head on 10 June 1918. He was the son of Ellen Jane Lee of 106 Creek Road, Deptford. Sold with copied army service papers.
