Tom Scammel White was born in Lewisham on 11 June 1896. He attested for the 20th Battalion London Regiment on 8 August 1914. With them he served in France, 9 March 1915-28 May 1917, being present at Neuve Chapelle, Givenchy, Festubert, Loos, Vimy Ridge, Somme and Ypres. At Loos he was wounded and gassed, and at Vimy Ridge he was recommended for his devotion to duty. He proceeded to England in May 1917 and gained a commission in the 16th Battalion London Regiment. Serving with them in Palestine, he was wounded on 30 April 1918, suffering a gunshot wound to the head. In October 1918 he caught influenza and was later transferred to England. Sold with copied service papers.
Private Wilfred Ernest Ramsden, 20th Battalion London Regiment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 10 March 1915. He was commissioned into the 15th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment on 31 August 1915. Sold with copied m.i.c. and roll extract.
