Trooper Montague Beadon Follett was a coffee planter from the Nungangode Estate, Mysore. After serving with the Regiment in operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Johannesburg, he contracted enteric fever. He died in hospital in Johannesburg on 7.7.1900. He was given a funeral with full military honours and his name is commemorated on a tablet in St. Paul’s Cathedral, Calcutta.

His younger brother, Francis Bere Follett (later Lieutenant-Colonel, D.S.O., M.C.) also served in Lumsden’s Horse. His medals were sold in D.N.W., 21.9.2001, lot 1253.
