Although the Gordons as a whole did not take part in the Mohmand Expedition of 1933, a small detachment from the 1st Battalion, approximately 35 Officers, N.C.Os and men, accompanied it in the capacity of clerks, provost staff and other similar support roles. Any such awards to Imperial troops are rare.

Corporal Brown’s award is verified in The Tiger and Sphinx for June 1935 (Vol. XII, No. 62).
