Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein (2423 Serjt.-Tptr., 2nd Dragoons), single initial ‘H.’; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (2423 Serjt.-Tptr., 2nd Dragoons), the first with unofficial clasp rivets throughout and the middle two clasps tailor’s copies, minor contact marks and a little edge bruising, otherwise very fine and better (2) £300-350

Henry Thomas Inkster was born at Stratford, Essex and enlisted in the Royal Scots Greys in February 1882, aged 14 years. Gaining steady advancement over the next fifteen years, he was appointed Sergeant-Trumpeter in August 1897 and witnessed active service out in South Africa from November 1899 to July 1900, during the course of which he was wounded by a gunshot at Driefontein on 10 March 1900. Inkster was discharged back at Aldershot in February 1902, aged 33 years, his intended place of residence being Kelvinside, Glasgow.
