James Pearce, who was born at Blaina, where he enlisted in the 3rd Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment, was killed in action by enemy shell fire on 29 September 1915. Aged 20 years, he left a widow, Cecilia, of 26 James Street, Brithdir, New Tredegar, and was buried in the Bard Cottage Cemetery, Boezinge, Ieper, Belgium.
