George Day was born in West Kensington, Middlesex and enlisted at Northampton. Serving with the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 13 August 1914. He was killed in action at the battle of Aubers Ridge, 9 May 1915. Private Day was buried in the Rue-du-Bois Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, France. Clasp confirmed. With copied research and a modern photograph of his grave. The Northamptonshire Regiment suffered some 550 casualties in the attack on that day.
