Moore, bust of Victoria left, rev. steam engine left, 39mm (BHM 3340); Opening of the Clifton Rocks Funicular Railway, 1893, a white metal cross by H.B. Sale, car on the slope, rev. issued to the passengers, etc, 35mm (BHM 3459; cf. Swan 78) [3]. One Crewe medal very fine and with suspension loop, others extremely fine (£60-80)

The Crewe medal also commemorates the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria and the 50th anniversary of the arrival of the railway. The Clifton Rocks railway was built entirely in a tunnel close to the suspension bridge, rising up the escarpment 450 feet. Increased costs forced its closure in 1934
