Walter George Hopkins was born in Fulham; residing in Ilford he enlisted in London. Serving with the 5th (City of London) Battalion London Regiment (London Rifle Brigade), he entered the France / Flanders theatre of war on 4 November 1914. He died of wounds, France / Flanders, on 27 February 1915, aged 27 years and was buried in the London Rifle Brigade Cemetery.
