Alfred Hawkes was born in Foulness, Essex and enlisted at Southend, Essex. Serving with the 10th Battalion King’s Royal Rifle Corps, he was killed in action, France / Flanders, 18 August 1917. His name is commemorated on the Menin Gate. He had previously been wounded during September 1916. Sold with some service and family details.
