Provenance: This and the following ten Civil War halfcrowns was purchased from a Mrs Sheen in January and November 1946. Consisting of two Bristol, six Oxford and three Tower coins, they were found hidden in the Manor House at Bledington, Gloucestershire, c. 1910, and escaped notice by Besly and Briggs (BNJ 2013). They seem to have been shown to both Spink and Seaby soon after purchase since the accompanying tickets list comments and valuations given by the dealers. Although mostly in good condition, many of the coins are covered with a dark layer of verdigris and might benefit from judicious cleaning and restoration
