William III (1694-1702), Proof Halfpenny, 1696, type I, in silver-gilt, from the same dies as previous, edge grained, 6.98g/12h (S 6598 var.; DF 499 var.; KM. 110b; cf. LaRiviere 188 and DNW 78, 127, same dies). From the obverse die in mid-state with the flaw below the tie-ribbons developing and over the last s of gvlielmvs, some blank filing on the edge perhaps suggestive of once having been mounted, otherwise very fine and extremely rare £800-1,200
