D.C.M. London Gazette 19 August 1916 ‘For conspicuous gallantry during an attack, when he led a party into the enemy dugouts and took many prisoners. Later he displayed great coolness and courage in carrying messages under heavy shell fire.’

M.M. London Gazette 14 May 1919. The regimental history notes the award of his M.M. as being for the Battalion’s action on 28 September 1918 (Fourth Battle of Ypres).
