Alexander Fraser was born in the Parish of Kirkhill, Knockblain, Inverness, and enlisted at Forres on 24 March 1852. He served in Malta and the Crimea for 2 years 4 months, and in India for 13 years 6 months. He volunteered and transferred to the 85th Foot in July 1869 and was finally discharged on 27 June 1871.
