The clasp for Balaklava is not confirmed on the medal rolls.
William Gibb was born at Aberdeen and enlisted for the 42nd on 19 April 1852. He served with the 42nd in the Crimea and, when back in England, brigaded with the 79th and 93rd Highlanders at Dover, he volunteered for overseas service with the 93rd Highlanders, with whom he was present throughout the Indian Mutiny. He was wounded at Lucknow in March 1858, and was finally discharged on 11 July 1863.
