Andrew Elmo Nixon was born at Newport, Buckinghamshire, in 1837 and enlisted at Northampton in December 1856. He served in China 1857-60 as a Gunner and subsequently became Battery Sergeant Major of the 3rd Battalion, Coast Brigade, in Jersey, where he was discharged from the army in November 1880. He was also awarded the L.S. & G.C. medal with a Gratuity of £5. Approximately 30 three clasp medals to this Battery.
