Awarded L.S. & G.C. as 3rd Class Master Gunner in 1909. Commissioned Lieutenant in March 1914, and for his service at Gibraltar during the Great War earned the British War Medal. He was promoted to Captain in 1928 and retired as Major in January 1932.
