Germany, Prussia, Order of the Red Eagle, Grand Cross set of insignia, comprising sash badge, 82mm, gold and enamels, ‘W’ inscribed on lower arm, and breast star, 90mm, silver-gilt and enamels, ‘W’ inscribed below retaining hasp on the reverse, complete with full length dress sash in its fitted case of issue, the case a little scuffed and some very minor hairlines to the white enamel of the badge, otherwise extremely fine and very scarce £3500-4000

Hardinge was awarded the second class of the Order of the Red Eagle on 10 August 1905, and was raised to the Grand Cross of the Order on 16 February 1909. Sold with copies of both award documents and related translations.
