Frederick Norman Urwin was born in and lived and enlisted at Stockton-on-Tees. Serving with the 8th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment he was killed in action in France on 7 October 1916, aged 24 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the son of William and Elizabeth Urwin of 8 Dixon Street, Stockton-on-Tees.
