I.D.S.M. (Immediate), London Gazette, 19 August, 1943. 'On 20 April 1943 after the capture of BLIDA, part of the Garci feature, Rfn Nerrabahadur showed courage and devotion to duty of an extremely high order. Having captured its objective the Battalion remained in position for three days and two nights, during which time it was subject to terrifically heavy and accurate mortar and shell fire which resulted in communications between Bn HQ and forward companies being frequently broken. On these occasions Rifleman Nerrabahadur, being a linesman, with complete contempt for the heavy enemy concentrations around him and without waiting for orders moved from his covered position into shell-swept areas to repair the line to forward companies, enabling, by his coolness and courage under fire, vital communications to be kept open. He carried our his duty with the same exceptional high standard twice by night and three times by day. His devotion to duty and utter disregard of his own personal safety were an example to all.'
