I.D.S.M. awarded for the North West Frontier 1930, the award dated 29 November 1930, and listed with four other awards to the Kurram Militia. Taking advantage of the Redshirt riots in Peshawar during August 1930, lashkars of Afridi and Mamund tribesmen raided the outskirts of the city. A detachment (approximately 100 rifles) of Kurram Militia formed part of a combined force (including K.M., S.W.S. and T.S.) which drove them off after a sharp action at Zhindai Khwar ravine near Palli village, just inside tribal territory. Jemadar Miram Khan was also mentioned in despatches London Gazette 26 June 1931.
