Lieutenant-Colonel Vaughan Jenkins served in the Miranzai Expedition of 1891 under Sir William Lockhart as Assistant Adjutant General after Major Egerton had been wounded. He was mentioned in despatches and received the brevet of Lieutenant-Colonel.
