Sold with copy of P.R.O./W0329 confirming entitlement to British War Medal only. Edgar William Mayor served in South Africa from March 1900 to February 1903. He was District Commandant, Beaufort West, and a member of the Standing Military Court in Cape Colony, 1901. He was attached to the Army Service Corps in the Transvaal, Orange River Colony and Natal, and was Senior Transport Officer to Colonel Sitwell's Column. Mayor was promoted Major, 1 September 1907, in the Humber Division, Submarine Miners, Royal Engineers Militia. He was awarded the O.B.E. (Military) for his work during the Great War and retired with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
