Wounded at Rhenoster Kop, 29 November 1900. In the battle of Rhenoster Kop the 1st Battalion West Riding Regiment lost their Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. G.E. Lloyd, D.S.O., while Capt. Ackworth, Lieuts. Oakes and Townsend were wounded, together with 5 men killed and 24 wounded.
