M.M., London Gazette, 19 October, 1944. The following citation was extracted from official sources: 'On 26th June 1944 an enemy Mk IV tank penetrated 'C' Company's position (sheet 37/16 SE 25000 - 879674) which was astride a sunken road. The enemy tank opened fire with its machine guns inflicting casualties on men of the company. No. 3527046 L/Cpl Dodd, EW, regardless of the enemy fire, dashed forward to an unmanned Piat lying beside the road and not dug in, and engaged the tank at a range of 80 yards. His first three bombs missed but his second three struck the enemy tank and disabled it. It was then abandoned by its crew. Throughout this engagement L/Cpl Dodd showed complete disregard for his own safety whilst under very heavy machine gun fire from the tank.'
