Awarded for the attack on Bullecourt on the 16th - 17th May, 1917, the first gallantry awards won by this battalion. The action is described in the regimental history (Pages 284-288). Joseph Ashton Burton enlisted 4 September, 1914, and went overseas on 25 January, 1917, serving until he went sick on 7 July, 1917, and was discharged.
