Harry Lewis Humphreys joined the 5th London Regiment at the outbreak of War and proceeded with the battalion to France in 1914. He was commissioned on 24 August, 1915, and joined the 8th London Regiment, with whom he served the remainder of the War, reaching the rank of Captain.
